Annual conflict: Atheists vs. Believers
You can set your calendar by the annual attempts by the adherents of the Atheist Religion to ban any manifestation of Christmas and Chanukah from public view. To front for their disdain for Christianity and Chanukah, in particular, and religion, in general, they use the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) which brings lawsuits against units of local government, trying to force them to abandon the centuries-old practices of religious displays during the Christmas and Chanukah seasons.
But why are the Atheists such zealots? What is it that drives the adherents of one religion (believe me, Atheism meets all the traditional theological tests to be classed as a religion) to want to punish the adherents of a different religion by banishing Christian and Jewish icons from public view?
One theory is that the Atheists have this way-down-deep suspicion that they might be missing the boat with regard to Salvation. What if the Atheists are wrong in their devotion to the idea that there is no life after death? What if those who believe in a Supreme Being and believe in a life after death are correct? Ouch!
Maybe the Atheists reason that if they, the Atheists, are going to miss the boat to Salvation, then they must see to it that the rest of humankind misses the boat to Salvation as well. Then, thinking again, they might say there is no Salvation to begin with so there is no boat to be missed. That is certainly the constitutional right of the Atheist Religionists to believe as they do. But every American has the same constitutional right, if he or she so chooses, to believe in a life after death and the idea that living on this earth in certain ways might enhance one’s chances of Salvation and offer a shot at experiencing an afterlife in the Forever.
Going around the Internet again this Christmas season, is a youtube.com video of one of those flash mobs cleverly designed to spring up in the middle of a crowded department store, food court, or mall, bringing gorgeous a cappella Christmas music to the startled shoppers. If you are having trouble getting into the Christmas Spirit, watching this particular video should fix that problem. While the video is so meaningful to Christians that many are moved to tears of joy, just imagine if you were an Atheist caught in the middle of a shopping mall surrounded by Christians singing in joyful praise of the Christ Child. Man, being suddenly surrounded by joyful people must really be disorienting. Indeed, when you look at the soaring cathedrals found throughout Christendom that seem to pull the human spirit upward toward the heavens, and when you hear the glorious music performed over the centuries by Christian choirs and congregations, you kinda feel sorry for the Atheists whose only liturgy is the law suit and whose music seems to be limited to gangsta/acid rock. That alone, proves that the Devil does not have the best tunes.
