The only thing we have to fear is Hoplophobia
In the wake of all the recent murders of innocent men, women, and children in gun-free zones, hope springs eternal that even the most mentally challenged in Hillary’s village will come to understand that gun-free zones work to the advantage of the radical Islamist killers and to the disadvantage of innocent people trying to go about their individual pursuits.
But "understanding" depends on overcoming irrational fears. First, there is the fear by some of being called an Islamophobe. Secondly, there is an irrational fear of firearms which has been given the name: Hoplophobia which combines the Greek word "hoplon," meaning "arms" with the Greek word "phobos," meaning "fear," which is then anglicized as Hoplophobia. The confirmed Hoplophobic believes that firearms have a will of their own, that firearms can commit crimes absent human involvement. In Congress, many Democrats and even a few Republicans, think that guns, rather than violence-prone humans, should be controlled.
Yet is it really irrational to fear Islam? Some people, in the wake of, yet another, Islamic jihadist atrocity are careful to say the atrocity was committed by "radical" Islamists, not by run-of-the-mill Islamists. What those people do not understand is that "radical’ Islam is not the problem. The problem, ever since the Islamists tried to overrun France in 732 A.D, Spain in 1571 A.D. and Vienna in 1529 and 1683 A.D is (drum roll) Islam -- a violent, totalitarian political movement that wraps itself in the trappings of a religion. Islam is what it is. Judeo-Christians wishing for Islam to turn against its violent members are not going to change Islam. The so-called peaceful Islamists are not going to interfere with Islam’s violent members. As Mao Zedong famously said, "The guerrilla must move amongst the people as a fish swims in the sea." The violent jihadists swim in a sea of non-violent Islamists who believe as they do and will not lift a finger to stop their violence. Ergo: The Islamic war against Judeo-Christian Western Civilization that began in 732 A.D. and has continued in fits and starts ever since 732 A.D. is not going to abate. That is the reality. Thus, there is every reason to be unashamedly Islamophobic
While it may not be possible for Islam to be defeated, it can be contained. As the French proved in 732, the Spanish in 1571, and the Viennese in 1529 and 1683, the Islamists can be beaten back by the use of armed force. But not if we continue to allow Hoplophobia to prevent us from exercising our inherent right to self-defense and our Constitutional right to "keep and bear arms."
While many think the Islamist terrorists are crazy, they are not stupid. In the typical hostage situation, they pretend to negotiate so they can stay on world-wide television for as long as they can before they kill their hostages. They think that is the way to win recruits to ISIS or other Islamic terror groups. Apparently, it works.
While Islamophobia may hurt some feelings on the Left, Islamophobia will not kill us. But Hoplophobia, if allowed to persist, most certainly will.
